Chapter Twenty

Silver twirled around her office, laughing out loud. Perfect. Just perfect. All her plans for promoting the team had panned out so far. Already they'd sold more season tickets than any other season and she could take full credit. Three days of working crazy hours had paid off.

Daddy is going to love this!

Flipping open her day planner, she picked up a pen and put it in her mouth, chewing thoughtfully. The Cobras had a week long preseason road trip, so the photo shoot would have to be scheduled for next week . . . .

A sound from the door brought her head up. Her face broke into a smile as Dean stepped into her office. Wearing the new tie she'd bought him. No more no-nonsense black and grey. Nothing extreme either, but forest green complimented his eyes. Which ran over her now with such raw desire she wanted to drag him into her office and get naked. They'd both been so busy they'd done nothing but talk on the phone since this past weekend.

She missed him. She missed talking about the game while snuggling in bed, missed their debates over everything from politics to the plots of the movies they watched—military dramas which she surprisingly enjoyed. And the way he shut her up with a kiss when she gloated about making a good point . . .

Never in her life had she felt this way about anyone. Connected to them as a whole person. The sex was amazing, and he aroused her by just looking at her, but she didn't curse at him anymore to do her on the closest available surface when he made her hot. Well, not every time. And a quickie wouldn't hurt . . . .

Fingering the pearl buttons high on her throat, she waved him over and pointed at her book. "You aren't going to believe what I pulled off."

His tongue traced his bottom lip as he approached her. "Remind me about the office policy?"

Her nose wrinkled. "Your office policy."

"Ah, yes. Mine." He let out a gruff laugh. "Show me what you pulled off before I forget why the policy is a good idea."

Oh, I could so torture you! Tempting—but no. She wanted to see what he thought of all her hard work more than she wanted to get off. Of course, maybe he'd think it was stupid. It wasn't his style. Or even Daddy's style.

"Hey, what happened to the woman who was so excited she danced around her office for about ten minutes?"

Heat rushed over her cheeks. She glared at him. "You were watching me!"

He shrugged. "Your door was open." He rested a hand on the edge of her desk and studied her book. "You've booked several meetings with a Canadian network. Are you getting the team more air time?"

"Kinda." She circled her desk as she spoke, straightening her pencil holder and her files. Her purse lay open on the far corner and she fetched a lollypop. The second the candy was in her mouth she felt much better.
